The Howe Community Association is a non-profit organization recognized by the state of Indiana. It is a large group of Howe residents who contribute in various ways to the planning of local events like Indian Summer Days and Music in the Park. We also bring The Farmers Market to our town on Saturdays during the summer. There are many ways to participate. We invite you to come to our monthly meetings.

Philomath
In 1897, seven ladies from Howe decided to form a literary society and named it the Philomath, which means Lovers of Learning.
Each year since 1897 the Philomaths have met to study various subjects of interest to them. Currently, the organization consists of eleven active and five associate members. The topic of study this year is renewable energy. Members are assigned a segment of that topic to research and on which to prepare a report.
Membership is by invitation and there are responsibilities that go with membership. If you are approached by a member, you may want to consider the invitation to become a part of this old and distinguished institution for ladies of Howe.(Marietta Absten)
